Private, Medicare and Workcover clients welcome

Private appointments are those paid wholly by yourself or by your private health insurance. Medicare appointments are those paid wholly or in-part by Medicare. Workcover, DVA, NDIS, MVA or medico-legal appointments are those paid in full by an insurance company on your behalf.

Appointment costs

Samantha James is a private psychologist and, as such, costs apply. Appointment costs vary depending on the length of the appointment, the type of treatment program and the type of service being provided. However as a guide:

  • Standard Medicare appointments (up to 45 mins.) incur an out-of-pocket cost of $50.00.
  • Shorter Medicare appointments (approx.25 mins.) incur no out-of-pocket costs.
  • Longer Medicare appointments (approx.60 mins.) incur a $75.00 out-of-pocket cost.
  • Those on an aged, disability or carers pension and children at school can access bulk-billed Medicare appointments.
  • All Medicare appointments require a current GP Mental Health Care Plan.
  • Private appointments are costed as follows: 15 mins = $45; 30 mins = $85; 45 mins = $120; 60 mins = $155. Your Private Health Insurance may cover all or some of this cost. Please book private appts directly with the psychologist.
  • Workcover and like appointments are charged at the standard industry rate (currently around $230 per hour). Similarly for NDIS. These can be booked online or via the psychologist.

Payment

You have the choice to either book online or pay in full on the day of service. If you book online, you will pay an 'appointment holding fee' at the time of booking and nothing further on the day of service. If you pay in full on the day you will pay the full amount up front and then have the Medicare Rebate credited to your bank account within 2 working days.

NOTE: IF YOU WANT YOUR OUT-OF-POCKET COSTS TO BE INCLUDED IN YOUR MEDICARE SAFETY NET TOTAL YOU WILL NEED TO PAY UP FRONT ON THE DAY OF SERVICE.
